Problems with Participation

Part one of Chapter 3 talks about who participates and why. Part two calls a lot of these assumptions into question. In class today we'll wrestle with the four critiques listed in the text:

  1. Participation Is a Good Thing
  2. Participation Equals Formal Learning
  3. Learners are Abstract, Not Socialized, Individuals
  4. There are Barriers, Not Resistance

Be prepared to expand on these assumptions using the text as a guide.
